Several thousend tons of category 2 silage collected yearly from salmon farming locations

ScanBio collects category 2 silage as a service to the salmon farming industry. The silage is produced from fish which accidentally has died during the farming period. The dead fish are removed from the nets on a daily matter, immediately ensiled and stored in designated tanks on board the fish farming barges. When storage tanks are full, ScanBio logistics are advised via an integrated notification system. Prior to loading, samples are analysed on board the vessels minilaboratory and following, sorted in different quality categories.

Mobile silage units

Compact mobile silage units, provided by ScanBio

As part of the setup with our suppliers, Scanbio can make available mobile silage units. These units can be setup outside, or inside, supplier production. The mobile unit is a complete silage production unit, and includes; pre-grinder, grinder pump, agitator, acid dispenser, control box and a production tank with a capacity tailored to handle the individual supplier daily volumes. The silage unit is sized as a 20 feet container and can be freighted by truck, or ship deck load. As the mobile unit is solely meant for silage production, the supplier provides sufficient storage tank capacity to satisfy the vessel infrastructure agreed with ScanBio.
